Short’s Brewing The Chocolate Wheat

Mmm. Beer.

There have been several beers that the Tuesday Night guys have sampled that claim to be a chocolate porter or a chocolate stout, but we were surprise to hear that Shorts had an offering called Chocolate Wheat.  Suffice to say, our interest was piqued. Read More »

Short’s Brewing The Good Samaritan

Mmm. Beer.

It’s hard to find someone who isn’t familiar with the story of the Good Samaritan, or at least has heard of it.  It’s a classic tale of ethical responsibility first told in the Bible, but repeated throughout the world by people of all faith.  Everyone knows that Good Samaritan, and we think everyone should know this Good Samaritan as well. Short’s Brewing The Wizard

What was the name of this one again?

Before I begin, you should know that this beer is one that was very much a love it or hate it beer for us.  The Wizard is a barley wine which typically is a higher alcohol, richer tasting beer, and is not necessarily for everyone. Usually we can come to some type of gentlemanly agreement on our reviews, but on this one we had ratings from 3 to 6 and nearly a fisticuffs match. Read More »

Short’s Brewing Cup A Joe

Oh yeah, that's good

Behind water and tea, beer is the third most consumed beverage on the planet. Coffee ranks right behind it at number four, though it’s the second most traded commodity in the world (Wikipedia makes anyone sound smart, doesn’t it? – Rob). Many brewers have tried for that perfect combination of coffee and beer, and many have come up short. Shorts did not. Read More »

Michigan Beer Cellar Black Magic RyPA

Mmm. Beer.

One of my favorite sandwiches to eat is the Reuben.  The combination of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing all grilled on rye bread is one of the best sandwich creations ever created.  Unfortunately, there is no clear origin of the sandwich, but I do appreciate the one from about 1925 when Reuben Kulakofsky of Omaha, Nebraska dreamed up the sandwich for his fellow weekly poker players. Arcadia Ales London Porter

Oh yeah, that's good

Ahh, foggy London town.  What would we do without your fish’n'chips, your umbrellas and lorries, your queues and your rain.  You’ve given us the Tower of London, the Crown Jewels, and Pippa Middleton’s heiny (and for that, we thank you).  You’re the 21st largest city in the world, boasting the 5th highest GDP, and the world’s oldest subway system.  None of that makes any difference to me right now, as the only thing London that I care about is Arcadia’s London Porter. Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales Luciernaga

What was the name of this one again?

Luciernaga, The Firefly: an ale brewed with spices. If there were an award for truth in advertising, Jolly Pumpkin would win it. This beer tastes and smells and drinks exactly like the bottle says it should. Read More »

Short’s Brewing Black Licorice Lager

Mmm. Beer.

Much like Apple has an app for everything; Shorts seems to have a beer for everything. Do you like black licorice? There’s an app…I mean beer for that, and it’s no surprise that it’s made by Shorts. Read More »

Atwater Block Brewery Shaman’s Porter

Dirty Thirty

Men love charcoal. It is dirty, black and smelly. It makes grilled things taste delicious. It is also useful in aging all sorts of alcohols. Scotch, tequila, wine, and our personal favorite here at Tuesday Nights: bourbon. The growing trend in the brewing industry of using old bourbon barrels for aging beer has had some great results, but some others that are, in a word, meh. Enter a bourbon barrel aged porter called Atwater’s Shaman Porter. Read More »

Short’s Brewing Key Lime Pie

Mmm. Beer.

For a long time science fiction had a few commonly reoccurring holy grails.  Flying cars, jetpacks, moon bases, and complete meals in pill form.  Disappointingly we have come close to approximately none of these.  Read More »
