Bells The Oracle

What was the name of this one again?

A pair of 2′s beats Ace high, two pairs of anything beats that, and we all know a pair of balls beats everything.  Heck, even Raisin Bran gets it’s two scoops. (they still make that, right?)  Bells offers up this special edition Double IPA, so were we twice as wowed? Read More »

What was the name of this one again?

Fall is upon us when Oktoberfest brews come to the shelves and at our bars.  It is one style of  beer that so many breweries use the label, Oktoberfest. Read More »

Bells Two Hearted Ale

Mmm. Beer.

The other day I was sitting and thinking about The Katate Kid (because why not?), and I realized that Two Hearted IS Daniel-san.  Bells (Miyagi) trains brews Two Hearted Ale (Daniel-san) to defend from and defeat the evil Cobra Kai karate thugs (English IPAs) using zany unorthodox training methods; we the audience (beer drinkers) slowly grow to appreciate that the underdog will always defeat the status quo. Bells Oberon Ale

Dirty Thirty

Like Elvis was the King of rock and roll and Michael Jackson was the Prince of pop, so too was Oberon the hallmark of Michigan craft beers.  The demand for this seasonal brew was so great, that it is now one of the most widely distributed craft beer in America, available from Florida to Washington DC to California.  Read More »

Bells Winter White Ale

What was the name of this one again?

There are some things that just sound better at certain times of the year.  Most people don’t go crazy for hot cocoa in July, and popsicles aren’t as in demand the day after Christmas.  One thing everyone can agree on: beer goes great any time of year. Read More »

Bells Amber Ale

Mmm. Beer.

In the car industry, a manufacturer’s flagship vehicle is their crème de la crème, the most amazing product they can field.  In brewing, a flagship beer may not necessarily be  their best beer, but rather their most popular or highest selling (you’d think that would BE their best), or even simply the beer that best exemplifies the qualities of the brewery. Bells Hopslam

Oh yeah, that's good

Few insects are cooler than Bees. No other insect can make people run away screaming like a buzzing bumblebee. They fly around scoping out flowers full of delicious nectar to make their queen happy. This in turn is used to make delicious honey for us to use on our toast (or beer in this case). Bell’s Brewing must have realized how cool bees are because they have merged tasty honey with something tastier: India Pale Ale. Read More »

Bells Cherry Stout

Mmm. Beer.

Beer, like women, comes in all different varieties and styles; you’ve got your anorexics like MGD 64, the exotic supermodels like Bourbon Barrel Ale, the big fatties like Oatmeal Stout, the plain-janes like Labatt, and of course, the trailer-park trash like any IPA (PHILLISTINE!! – Rob). Bells Java Stout

Dirty Thirty

This is a beer that has promise.  When you look at the bottle, and especially after you pour it into a glass, this looks every bit like a MANS beer.  It’s dark.  And when I mean dark, it’s like looking into the abyss.  I swear I saw my own soul staring back at me.  It pours slow, and makes you feel like you’ve got to check for particulate matter in the bottom of the bottle.  Read More »
