Michigan Beer Cellar Black Magic RyPA

Mmm. Beer.

One of my favorite sandwiches to eat is the Reuben.  The combination of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing all grilled on rye bread is one of the best sandwich creations ever created.  Unfortunately, there is no clear origin of the sandwich, but I do appreciate the one from about 1925 when Reuben Kulakofsky of Omaha, Nebraska dreamed up the sandwich for his fellow weekly poker players. Bells The Oracle

What was the name of this one again?

A pair of 2′s beats Ace high, two pairs of anything beats that, and we all know a pair of balls beats everything.  Heck, even Raisin Bran gets it’s two scoops. (they still make that, right?)  Bells offers up this special edition Double IPA, so were we twice as wowed? Read More »

North Peak Brewing Diabolical IPA

Oh yeah, that's good

We love this beer, but before I address our fondness of Diabolical IPA, I also wish to express our appreciation of their wonderfully designed labels. They are clean, easy to read and feature fun graphics. (Dark Horse, take note) Diabolical IPA is no exception to this standard as it features an American legend nearly as revered as Chuck Norris: The Jackalope. Read More »

Bells Two Hearted Ale

Mmm. Beer.

The other day I was sitting and thinking about The Katate Kid (because why not?), and I realized that Two Hearted IS Daniel-san.  Bells (Miyagi) trains brews Two Hearted Ale (Daniel-san) to defend from and defeat the evil Cobra Kai karate thugs (English IPAs) using zany unorthodox training methods; we the audience (beer drinkers) slowly grow to appreciate that the underdog will always defeat the status quo. Saugatuck Brewing Singapore IPA

Dirty Thirty

This beer is an exercise in dichotomy.  Sort of a good news/bad news situation.  The good news is:  it hits every part of your tongue.  The bad news is:  it hits every part of your tongue. Read More »

New Holland Brewing Imperial Hatter IPA

What was the name of this one again?

We have come to respect New Holland Brewing for their many delicious beers.  They craft some very unique and original beers that make us drool like Saint Bernards.  We came upon their Imperial Hatter filled with all of those expectations dancing like sugar plums in our heads.  Sadly our expectations were met with a ho-hum review. Founders Brewing Co. Centennial IPA

Mmm. Beer.

The world we live in is full of beer. It comes in all shapes and sizes; ales & lagers, Budweiser’s & Miller’s, Bell’s & Dogfish Head’s. Some beers are extremely unique with exotic flavors and tastes, and others are really bland with only 55 calories. Read More »

Bells Hopslam

Oh yeah, that's good

Few insects are cooler than Bees. No other insect can make people run away screaming like a buzzing bumblebee. They fly around scoping out flowers full of delicious nectar to make their queen happy. This in turn is used to make delicious honey for us to use on our toast (or beer in this case). Bell’s Brewing must have realized how cool bees are because they have merged tasty honey with something tastier: India Pale Ale. Read More »
