I was born.
Several years later I started drinking beer. My beer drinking started like the big bang, more of a quantity over quality approach. As I aged, gaining experience, perspective, and wisdom, my tastes changed and I started to enjoy drinking my beer a bit slower and enjoying every drink, or sometimes not so much, depending on the beer I was drinking. This, of course, led to me expanding my palette and choosing better quality beer, as I no longer wanted to savor the piss that was going down so fast that I couldn’t taste the difference anyway. Now, I have more of a quality over quantity approach to my beer selection. . . most of the time (old habits die hard).
As my palette expanded and became more refined at the same time, I found friends who also liked to drink beer and, like me, were expanding and refining their beer drinking ways and enjoying more quality than quantity, most of the time (we are a group of guys, drinking beer, sometimes in a garage).
I have met very few beers that I couldn’t drink, however, some of my favorites tend to be beers with a good strong or distinctive taste without a bad aftertaste and ranges from stouts and porters to wheat beer, to a pilsner or IPA. I tend to stay far away from any beer with fruity or coffee tastes.
So I say to quality beer and quality friends, I’ll have another!
